Sale of Wilkinsons Point

Pursuant to section 6(2) of the Public Accounts Act 1970, the Committee resolved to have a targeted inquiry into Premier Rockliff’s media release of 23 February 2025 announcing the Government has agreed to sell the Crown Land at Wilkinson’s Point to the LK Group at a value determined by the Valuer-General and will be partnering with private enterprise to develop the area: see 'Massive economic boost with Wilkinsons Point transformation'.

At this stage the Committee will not be accepting submissions until it has received evidence from the Government and relevant entities.

Of note, the Auditor-General tabled the Proposed sale of Wilkinsons Point Land (No.3 of 2025-26) on 24 September 2025. The Report amongst other findings found that the Department of State Growth processes from 2019 to 2025 for the sale of publicly owned land were inadequate and that the Department's processes did not support the identification and effective management of risks associated with the land sale process.

The Committee is holding independent public hearings with the Office of the Valuer-General,  Glenorchy City Council, Property Council of Australia, Department of State Growth, Departmnet of Premier and Cabinet, Department of Treasury and Finance and LK Group representatives  on 31 March and 1 April 2026. A media advisory with more specific public hearing details will be  released closer to the date.  The Committee  alos intends to hold a public hearing with Premier Rockliff (date and time to be confirmed).
